FBI Channeler

A Faster Way to Get Your Identity History Summary Report

Applying for a visa or seeking dual citizenship? FBI channeling is a service used to expedite immigration-related requests like these. It’s also useful for seeing what’s on your record if you’re hired for a new job, hoping to adopt a child, or requesting a record review. We’re proud to be one of the few providers in Southern California registered as an FBI channeler. This service is provided by appointment only at our West Oceanside / Carlsbad office.

What Is FBI Channeling?

FBI channeling is a specialized type of fingerprinting service that allows a requester to access your criminal history record, also known as your “rap sheet.” This information is used to verify your identity and determine if you’re eligible to receive a visa, get hired, adopt a child, or for your own use to review your record.

The FBI runs a background check on you that uncovers any criminal activity reported in the U.S. and its territories. When submitting your fingerprints using an FD-258 Ink Card, this process can take up to 14 weeks. As an FBI channeler, we speed the delivery of your Identity History Summary Report so it usually arrives by email within 24 hours. If you prefer snail mail, you can expect delivery within five to seven business days.

How It Works

To capture your digital fingerprints, we use a state-of-the-art optical scanner. The fingerprinting process normally takes about 10 minutes. Your data is then transmitted to the FBI using a secure connection to protect your sensitive biometric information.

Who Needs FBI Channeling Services?

This type of background check is often used for requests related to immigration, employment, adoption, and criminal history record reviews. Here are some specific examples:

  • Employees seeking a visa to work overseas
  • Students applying for a visa to study abroad
  • People seeking dual citizenship
  • Adults who need FBI criminal clearance to gain approval for an adoption
  • Citizens hoping to get a former criminal offense expunged from their record

Getting Prints Done the Luna Way

We won’t rush you through the fingerprinting process like other service providers do. To ensure your prints are accepted, we take the time needed to expertly roll your fingers and produce quality prints. This ensures you can take that overseas business trip on time, get your student visa approved without hassles, and acquire the clearance needed to proceed with an adoption.

We take pride in maintaining our state-of-the-art equipment, which allows us to provide the best-quality prints and scans at a fair price. We also follow COVID-19 best practices suggested by the Department of Justice for keeping equipment properly sanitized.

Work with the Best

As an industry leader, we understand the science behind your fingerprints. Our technicians are highly skilled experts with extensive fingerprinting knowledge. They’ve been trained specifically on biometric fingerprint capture procedures, including the patterns to look for and the print boundaries to include.

We are sensitive to and work well with fingerprinting challenges stemming from conditions such as hyperhidrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, missing digits, congenital deformities, and anxiety.

FBI Channeler Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Who can use the services of a FBI Channeler?

This service can be provided to U.S. Citizens or permanent residents with a valid government photo identification.

Q: Who needs the services of a FBI Channeler?

The main advantage of using an FBI Channeler is to speed up the process of receiving a FBI History Summary Check Report. When requesting the report directly from the FBI, the process can take up to 16 weeks. FBI Channelers such as Luna Live Scan + Notary, can typically have the PDF version of report in about 24 hours.

However, channelers can only request Identity History Summary Checks for American citizens and permanent residents. Non-US citizens without permanent residence status must make the departmental order request directly to the FBI by submitting a application and a fingerprint card. If you have requested a physical report, the process usually takes 3 to 5 days.
