Ink Fingerprinting

High-Quality Ink Prints That Get Accepted

Moving and need to get licensed to work in your new state? Are you a teledoctor or telenurse with out-of-state licensing requirements? Seeking a carry to conceal gun permit? Hoping to get a license to sell services outside of California? To get approval, you’ll need to submit an FD-258 Ink Card per the requesting agency instructions. We can help!

What Is Ink Fingerprinting?

Ink fingerprinting is a process that allows the FBI to run a criminal background check on you. This information is used to verify your identity and determine if you’re eligible to obtain a license, certificate, or permit.

How It Works

We expertly roll your fingerprints onto an FD-258 Ink Card, which takes about 10 minutes. When applying in multiple states, you’ll need cards for each location. If the requesting agency provided you with FD-258 Ink Cards, be sure to bring them to your appointment. We also offer these cards at our office if needed, and they are included in the price.

FD-258 Fingerprint Card

After we capture your fingerprints, here’s what happens next:

  • You’ll submit the FD-258 Ink Card to the proper agency who will forward it to the FBI.
  • The FBI will run a criminal background check on you.
  • The FBI then sends the card to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the state where you’re requesting a license, certificate or permit.
  • The DOJ conducts its own background check to verify your eligibility, then provides your Identity History Summary Report to the requesting agency.

In total, this process can take 12 to 14 weeks.

Who Needs Ink Fingerprinting?

This type of background check is required most often for professional licensing, employment verification, security clearances, and carry to conceal permits. Here are some specific examples:

  • Doctors, lawyers, and other professionals moving out of California who need to obtain a license to work in their new resident state
  • Teledoctors and telenurses seeking a license to provide video health services in states outside California
  • California agents who need a license to sell insurance in other states
  • Security officers who need permits to buy and carry concealed weapons
  • Graduate students who need a license to participate in out-of-state internships
  • Government contractors working on a military base

Ink Prints Done the Luna Way

We won’t rush you through the process like other service providers do. To produce high-quality prints that get accepted, we schedule one-on-one sessions and take the time needed to expertly roll your fingers.

For this service, we use a high-quality Porelon® fingerprint ink pad. Since it’s not possible to sterilize the ink pad itself, we ask that you follow our health and safety procedures to make sure your hands are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before ink rolling.

Work with the Best

As an industry leader, we understand the science behind your fingerprints. Our technicians are highly skilled experts with extensive fingerprinting knowledge. They’ve been trained specifically on FBI biometric fingerprint capture procedures, including the patterns to look for and the print boundaries to include.

We are sensitive to and work well with fingerprinting challenges stemming from conditions such as hyperhidrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, missing digits, congenital deformities, and anxiety.
